Grand Openings

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Tuesday, November 29, 2011

It seems to be an exciting time when a builder announces an opening of new houses or condos.  People start to line up, sometimes the day before, so that they can be the first to grab the best lot or condo suite.  I have even seen people hire other people to stand in line for them, just so they won't miss out.

I can understand standing in line if the builder says that the first 100 people get $10,000.00 off the price of the property, or if the price is will be going up in 24 hours. But is it wo...

Builders Take Heed!

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Saturday, November 19, 2011

As much as purchasers who buy homes from builders need to be well informed and savvy, the builders need to provide excellent customer service.

There are many purchasers/homeowners who understand the procedures and rules when they buy a new home. They are totally prepared for delays, deficiency timelines for repair, their responsibilities and the builders responsibilities, but the package is not complete if the builder has average customer service. No matter how prepared a homeowner may be, i...

Remembrance Day 11/11/11

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Friday, November 11, 2011

Remembrance Day, a day that we give thanks and gratitude to all the men and woman who sacrificed their lives for our country.

I actually don’t like the idea of this day.  Why?  Because it represents war, death, hate, everything negative. So many brave and selfless people gave, and continue to give their lives to bring about peace and to hopefully make this world a better place, but we still haven’t learned a thing.  Wars still exist, people still hate, and nothing has changed, as a m...

You Have The Power!

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Wednesday, November 9, 2011

To everyone who has purchases a house or condo from a builder.  You have the power to get things done in your new house.  If you are feeling stress, angry, frustrated, then you have not built up a good relationship with your builder.  Trust me, if you have positive communication  with your builder, your anxiety levels will drop dramatically.

Builders don’t want to argue with their homeowners. They want to be able to do what ever they can to keep you as happy and satisfied as possible...

A New Client

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Sunday, November 6, 2011

It's an exciting time for me. I am going to be working directly with a builder along with my other various clients. My mission as always, is to make sure that the purchasers/homeowners who I will be dealing with, will understand the After Sales Service process. I want them to be stress -free so that their new home buying experience as a purchaser, and then as a homeowner, is as exciting and as happy as it should be.

I always say, and I truly believe, that a savvy purchaser becomes a happy ho...

Your Unique Home - Choosing Your Interior Finishes

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Monday, October 31, 2011

Don't you find that when you go into other peoples homes, you see things that you wish you would have chosen in your own house? There are so many things that you can choose, and changes that you can make that you may not even think of until you see it somewhere else.

Most people make the obvious changes when they buy a new home, like choosing granite counter tops as an upgrade in place of arborite. Or choosing hardwood floors instead of carpet, potlights instead of standard fixtures, but the...

Easing Anxiety

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Friday, October 21, 2011

It's a nice feeling when you can ease someones anxiety, and that is what I was able to do today. I received a call from a frantic homeowner who had some items on her 30 Day Form that had not been addressed. The time had passed for her to request a conciliation from Tarion, and she believed that she had no other recourse.

I explained that she did indeed have another chance to report the deficiencies at her year end anniversary. I also explained that she should call her builder to discuss - no...

Preserve Heritage Buildings

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Thursday, October 20, 2011

It is a shame when a heritage building is knocked down to make way for a new condo. It changes the face of Toronto when something like that happens. We have to preserve heritage buildings so that the generations to follow can see Toronto for what it really is, a beautiful city that dates back well into the 1800′s.

If all of the old buildings are allowed to be distroyed, then Toronto will not be the same place any longer. Is it necessary to turn a city into a sleek modern looking metropolis...

Do You Need A Professional Home Inspector

Posted by Darlene Freeman on Tuesday, October 18, 2011

When you buy a new house or condo from a builder, some people believe that they should hire a professional home inspector to come with them to do the Pre Delivery Inspection. I am all for a thorough inspection, however; I don't believe you need to spend $300.00 or more, to have a professional inspector come in to inspect a brand new build.

A professional inspector is a necessity when you buy a resale home. They know exactly what to look for, and can find problems that can save us time, money...
